Challenges of the Drilling Industry
Our rugged and field-proven designs are built to withstand the rigors of the harshest environments. Applied Power Systems' configurations offer Air-Cooled or Liquid-Cooled operation for a broad range of SCR Rectifiers, Bridge Rectifiers and Inverter configurations. Advanced control features, snubbers and sensors are available through use of any of our configrable contoller boards. Below are just a few examples of solutions we recently provided.
DYNAMIC MOTOR BRAKES:
Available in air-cooled or liquid-cooled version, APS Dynamic Break power soultions offer continous current rating up to 1200A. Using fiberoptic controls, they can be paralled to handle much higher currents. User-sel3ctable voltage levels increases the versatility of this standard platform, reducing inventory costs for rig designers.
IGBT & SCR Controller / Driver Boards
Providing all the necessary control and protection features, the fiberoptic interface enables simple and safe integration into all types of applications. APS IGBT and SCR Gate Drivers incorporate the isolated power supplies and protection features required for safe, reliable operation of power stages, plus the isolated analog feedback of critical power stage parameters, DC Bus Voltage, output Current and device Temperature. Our IGBT Gate Drivers control from two up to six IGBTs at currents in excess of 1400 Amps. Our SCR Gate Drivers control up to twelve SCRs and offer the highest level of integration available in the market.
INVERTERS
The SixPac™ Series Series of Inverters and controllers are available in air-cooled or liquid-cooled version with a variety of configuraions. The series offers ratings from 600-1700 Amps in 3-Phase Bridge, Full-Bridge, Half Bridge and Chopper Modes. The SixPac™ Series Power Inverter integrates IGBT Drivers, SCR Drivers, DC link capacitors, laminated bus, advanced gate drivers and protection circuits in a single, compact package. The SixPac™ provides built in protection features including: OverVoltage, UnderVoltage lockout, OverCurrent, OverTemperature, short circuit and optional airflow or liquid flow indicators. Customer provided PWM is optically coupled or a fiber optic link can be provided to the IGBT interface. Current feedback is provided by Hall effect current transducers.
